The signing ceremony of Strategic Partnership Agreement between AmanahRaya and Institute of Professional Will Writers (IPW), UK
Kuala Lumpur, 25 March 2008 – AmanahRaya Legacy Services Sdn Bhd (ARLS) a wholly owned subsidiary of Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) and Professional Will Writers, United Kingdom (IPW) today signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Through this strategic partner, ARLS looks forward to exploring new opportunities to enhance its capabilities and to strengthen its position in the Will Writing, Custodian and Execution services by leveraging the international expertise and best practices of professional body, IPW.
It is envisaged that the partnership will create further market growth opportunities for the ARLS exposure to cross border capabilities in Asia. The partnership will also provide a strong foundation for advancing the Group's mission to entrench its position as a premier trust company providing professional services to its customers.
During his speech, the CEO of ARLS, Mr Rafie bin Omar said, "This is opportunity for us to work together with IPW and ride on their expertise in a significant way in promoting the profession of Will Writing as a service to the general public at large and equipping more competent, ethical and professional will writer in the country. The know-how and reputation of IPW as a recognized professional body to regulate and promote the profession of will writing will definitely help us to achieve world-class standards in all aspects of our wills services."

With the Strategic Partnership Agreement, the ARLS hopes to establish a solid partnership in which there is a two-way sharing expertise of information and education that will mutually benefit ARLS and the IPW. Collaboration with IPW will help ARLS to develop itself into becoming a professional Will writing organization which offers reliable Will Writing services to the general public and transform itself into a training centre for other will writing organizations.
Signing the partnership agreement on behalf of AmanahRaya was Mr Rafie bin Omar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ARLS and signing on behalf of IPW was Mr Paul Sharpe, Chairman of Institute Professional Will Writers, United Kingdom. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr Kee Wah Soong, President of Malaysian Financial Planning Council and YBhg Dato Hj Dusuki Ahmad, Chairman of AmanahRaya and Mr.Chris Heiberg, Vice Chairman of IPW.
ABOUT AMANAHRAYA LEGACY SERVICES SDN BHD
Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) has been providing estate administration, trust and wills services for over 86 years. Due to the increasing public demand for wills services, AmanahRaya formed the Probate Management Department (PMD) in 2006, a specialized department providing wills services and testate estate administration. As a result of intensive marketing efforts, the number of registered wills at AmanahRaya increased by 1,200% by the end of 2006 compared to the previous year. This tremendous growth and remarkable achievement entails the need for it to strengthen its backroom operations in respect of wills services. In early 2007, the PMD was transformed into an operating unit as a company; hence ARLS was founded.
Ownership
ARLS is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya), a public trust company established by virtue of the Public Trust Corporation Act, 1995 (formerly known as the Public Trustee and Official Assignee). Amanah Raya Berhad is company owned by the Government of Malaysia with 99.9% shares owned by Ministry of Finance (incorporated) and 0.01% shares owned by Kumpulan Wang Am.

ABOUT INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL WILL WRITERS (IPW)
The Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW) was formed in 1991 and since then has become established as the recognized professional body to regulate and promote the profession of Will writing. The group of the independent Will-writers who formed the Institute, together with subsequently elected council members, have all given their time and expertise to bring the Institute to its current standing.
Aims and Objectives of IPW
The aims and objectives of the IPW are set out in full in the Constitution and Code of Practice but to précis the objectives they are follows:-
- To promote the business of Willwriting as a service to the general public a professional and competent manner;
- To provide professional services to its member example further education and training and also Professional Indemnity Cover Insurance cover at competitive rate;
- To promote the services of Institute members to the general public via the media and generally promote Willwriting as a profession.
